DISP

Project Overview: 

THE USAID/Burma Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship Program (DISP) is a 5 year- USAID-funded initiative to provide full scholarships and educational opportunities for vulnerable community leaders in Burma. 

The scholarships will focus on students from Myanmar, collaborating with Mon National College in Southern Myanmar and Shan Community College in Northern Myanmar.

Through such partnerships, Payap University aims to mainstream credit transfers from non-state ethnic education institutions allowing a degree completion within three years. Students within DISP will be awarded an internationally recognized degree from Payap University.

In 2024, 15 students received scholarships for undergraduate programs at Payap’s International College.

Project Objectives:

  • Increase access to quality higher education for people from disadvantaged and underrepresented groups in Burma and nearby regions.
  • Increase the number of individuals completing higher education courses or degrees from regional and in-country HEIs.
  • Increase the number of individuals applying newly acquired leadership skills to impact their communities.

Project Output:

  • Successful degree completion for participating students
  • Personal growth and increased social mobility
